My decision to leave Como and visit Trieste was not planned as I was enjoying my time in Como just being in one place. Travelling can be hectic sometimes and stopping in one place for a while to catch your breath can feel pretty good. Como allowed me a to get into a bit of a routine for a few days and to get some work done and some regular exercise. I basically made a last minute call as I had to move out of were I was staying and I couldn’t find any accommodation. I was also thinking it would allow me to visit another city and potentially another country.
Trieste reminds me a bit of Melbourne. It doesn’t have the wow factor of Rome, Florence or Venice but it doesn’t have the over crowded streets with tourists either. It feels like a laid back city and a good place to live. Not as good as Como though. 🙂 It does give you easy access to Slovenia, Austria,Croatia and Czech. I can’t say I love it but I don’t dislike it either. With a couple of sleepless nights I have decided to stay a little longer and travel some more it was a tough decision. I know I have upset some people and I am sorry but I have to do this for me at the moment.
I decided to head to Ljubljana, Slovenia. I have read that its a beautiful city. In my true style I leave everything to the last minute and I now have no way to get there but I have accommodation booked so I have to hire a private driver. There is a great share ride site called Go Opti that provides transfers from Trieste to Ljubljana that I read about on a blog. I checked out the site and they have plenty of availability at different times for about $45. I don’t book straight away so I can check out a few other options and by the time I go back on the website all the shared rides are taken and the only option left is a private driver. It costs me about $100 more but I suppose I got to go in comfort on my own.
